Dedicated in memory
of Jim
Collins
Note:
This was the last WPGC Top Ten list published by the (Washington)
Evening Star
as part of the 'Area
Disc Jockeys Pick Top Ten Records' feature in the Teen
section on Fridays. The following week,
the publication day changed to Saturdays.
Chart
Notes: The Fab
Foursome continue their amazing run with 'Can't
Buy Me Love' and
'All My Loving' holding on to the top two postions at WPGC.
Meanwhile, 'She Loves You' drops a few notches from #3
- #6 (and goes on to be the #2 song of the year on the WPGC
Top 100 of 1964)
while'Twist And Shout' drops one from #4 - #5. But just
as 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' finally drops out of the
Top Ten (and ends the year as the #1 song on the WPGC
Top 100 of 1964),
another Beatles tune replaces
it as 'Do You Want To Know A Secret' debuts in the Top
Ten at #10.
In
a staggering display of absolute chart domination not seen before
or since, every single song in the Top Ten at WEAM
is by the Beatles
this week!!! Elsewhere, 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' moves
from #9 - #5 on Milt
Grant's Network
and 'She Loves You' falls from #5 - #7 on Milt
Grant's Network,
moves up from #8 - #2 at WINX
and falls from #1 - #3 at WHMC.
'Can't
Buy Me Love' can't be stopped as it sits a top the #1 spot
for the second week at WEEL,
jumps from #3 - #1 at WWDC and leaps #8 - #2 on Milt
Grant's Network.
'Please
Please Me' falls from #3 - #9 at Milt
Grant's Network,
ascends #6 - #3 at WWDC and debuts in the Top Ten at #6
at WHMC.
'Twist
And Shout' hangs on to #1 for the second week in a row on
Milt
Grant's Network,
falls #3 - #5 at WEEL,
moves #4 - #1 at WINX
and debuts in the Top Ten at #7 at WWDC.
'Do
You Want To Know A Secret' hovers at #3 this week at WEEL
while 'Thank You Girl' is this week's 'Predicted Hit'
at WWDC.
