'Cousin'
Warren Duffy
'Cousin'
Warren Duffy came to WPGC in 1966 as Program
Director and afternoon man, positions he held down until
1968 when he left for sister station, WMEX
in Boston. He later programmed KMET in Los Angeles. From 1994
- 2004 he did afternoons in LA at Salem's KKLA but has recently
retired.
Jerry
G
Jerry
initially did nights with the 'Late Date show' on WPGC in 1961.
Later that year he succeeded Pat
McCoy in mornings, a role he continued in until leaving the
station for nights at KYW in Cleveland in 1963.
In
1964 and 1965 he toured with the Beatles
as a roving reporter for NBC & Group W stations to cover their
concerts coast to coast.
Today,
he
and his wife own and operate operate two restaurants: The Greek
Islands Cafe and Asaggio Pizza Pasta in San Diego's Seaport Village.
Alexander
Goodfellow
'Alexander
Goodfellow' was one in a long string of station DJ names concocted
by General Manager,
Bob Howard. A native Washingtonian,
he came to WPGC in 1971 by way of WINX
in Rockville. A veteran of both radio and the record industries,
today Charley Lake is the Program Director KOOL
/ Phoenix.
Davy
Jones
Davy
Jones came to WPGC in 1968 by way of WBZ / Boston and held
down nights through 1971 when he left for WMAL-FM. He was also
the station's Music Director during this time and co-produced
the Rockumentary, 'The Rock & Roll Generation' with
big Wilson.
Today
he is with Read Street Sound
in Baltimore.
'Gentleman
Jim' Madison (Walt Rubin)
'Gentleman
Jim' Madison was a house DJ name used at WPGC by at least
four different Air
Personalities. The first of these was Walt Rubin who came
to the station in 1964 for part time work from the University
of Maryland's WMUC.
He later worked at WEAM
then went to Dallas. After radio he got into Advertising and eventually
moved in writing, producing and directing over 500 TV commercials.
Today he is a motion picture producer based in Rome, Italy.
'Gentleman
Jim' Madison (Joel Denver)
The
last of the 'Jim Madisons' was Joel Denver who joined the station
in 1970 from WINX
in Rockville. By 1971 he was on to other stations in other markets,
not the least of which was WFIL
in Philadelphia.
In
1980, he turned on the new CHR in Baltimore, B104.
During the latter part of the decade and into the '90's, Joel
was the CHR editor for Radio
& Records. He left in 1995 to start his own on line venture,
All Access
where he is the President to this day.
Harv
Moore
Long
time Morning
Man, Harv Moore
joined WPGC in 1963, initially to do nights until the AM signed
off at dusk. In November of that year he began doing mornings,
just days before the tragic assassination of JFK.
In
1995, he started a small record company, producing and recording
local singers in Buffalo. In 1998, the program director of Oldies
104 (WHTT / Buffalo) coaxed him into doing a Saturday show.
That led to 12n-3p Monday thru Friday. Then he was asked to be
Assistant Program Director, and do 2-7p Monday thru Friday which
he continues to this day.
