I worked for WPGC from 1962 to 1975....during all of the good times. Harv Moore and I have remained friends over all those years. He called me and told me about the website. It is great. It really is bringing back the memories. I was 21 when I went to work there. It was my most "fun" job ever.

I started working there part time in 1962...I had 3 small babies and was just getting back to work. Quickly, Bob Howard realized I had more potential and I became his secretary. I also worked as assistant bookkeeper, receptionist, assistant traffic manager, etc. I think I worked in just about every clerical position over my 12 1/2 years there. Harv used to try and get me to say little blurbs on the air, but I was too bashful.

I left right after the Marriotts took over....and Bob Howard had left. They came in making big changes and little by little, most of the old-timers were gone. We had been a close knit family and some of us have stayed in touch over the years. I am now remarried (14 years) and live in Charlottesville, VA. My kids are grown with families of their own and all live in Maryland.

Recently I heard that our old office building in Bladensburg is falling apart. The radio station was over the WMA bus station when I came to work there on Southern Avenue. To sum it up, we had a lot of fun and were very close. I really missed it at first when I left, but I knew it would never be the same. We were #1.....and that was the best time of "Rock and Roll".
